Prevent Sunburn
It doesn’t take much from you prevent sunburn if you know what exactly to do. It’s no rocket science. As long as you understand logic and common sense, it is very simply to avoid the damage but apparently most of us know how easy it is, thus taking things for granted and facing the consequences.
The next time you step out in the sun, remember these tips to help prevent sunburn.
Simple Tips to Prevent Sunburn
1. Avoid the sun at certain times. The hours between 10 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon are when the sun’s rays are strongest. Make the best possible attempt to avoid exposing yourself to the sun during these hours. If you do have to get out of shelter, make sure to get into the shade whenever possible. Also, try limiting the time you spend outdoors.
2. Cover up! Wear clothing that cover the legs and arms. Put on a broad-brimmed hat; this provides more protection and cover than a golf visor or a baseball camp.
3. Use sunscreen. Yes, use as much sunscreen as you want and use it more often. There are complaints quite often from people that sunscreen doesn’t seem to do its job, but it is actually not the fault of the sunscreen. It is how incorrectly it is applied on to the body a few seconds before leaving to the outdoors.
Experts recommend that you apply sunscreen 30 minutes before you go outdoors to prevent sunburn. Do not forget to reapply every two hours or so. If you perspire heavily or if you got caught in the rain, you will have to reapply sunscreen sooner than that. Also, do not be lazy about putting on sunscreen even on hazy or cloudy days. This is because UV rays are so strong that they can penetrate cloud cover.
4. Wear sunglasses. You should know by now that the skin around your eyes are extremely delicate. You can prevent sunburn in this area by wearing sunglasses everytime you leave shelter. Experts recommend that you use only sunglasses that are capable of blocking 99 to 100 percent of UV light. And, for your sunglasses to be greatly effective, choose the ones that fit your face closely. When you do purchase shades, make sure to find wraparound frames to avoid sunlight from all possible angles around the eyes.
These simple tips can help you prevent sunburn only to the extent that you follow these precautions. If you fail to follow these simple measures, you will be the one facing consequences.
